At 7:15 I woke up, stayed still a bit in the bed and then ate breakfast in the hotel. The buffet was great. After check-out, I went to a fountain (Námestie slobody) and then visited the castle. At 10 o‘clock, I reached the EuroVelo 6 route, which I will follow to the Black Sea.
The next almost 100km were on a dam. The nature, especially after about 20km was amazing. So many birds were on the river and enjoyed the silence. And then a highlight: an incredibly beautiful colored caterpillar crossed the road. I immediately stopped, went some meters back and took some pictures. That will be something for the entomology association of Bern, where I‘m member 🙂 .
Some kilometers later, I met Svenja. She started near Stuttgart with the same end goal: the Black Sea. We cycled together until the camping in Komárno. Or how it is called in Hungarian: Komárom.
There is a thermal bath next to the camping and as well some swimming pools. The latter can be used by the camping visitors (against some surcharge, although not really asked about it at the reception, just noticed that the costs are higher than usual for camping with a tent). The additional amount was worth the swim and there were even some whirlpool-like bubbles and a massage fountain. The shower afterwards was very warm and wasn‘t time-limited. Therefore, I enjoyed another 10min relaxation and then noticed that I forgot to bring the towel. So back into the swimming trunks (it seems that „bath pants“ doesn‘t exist in English 😀 ).
Afterwards, I went into the restaurant Bahia nearby and enjoyed Bruschetta (which was more warm tomato sauce and not really the Italian style) and great pasta (which was like Italian al dente pasta 😉 ).
Tired from the 111km today with a rather fast speed, it‘s time for a hopefully recovering sleep in tent. I upgraded the tent from 1 person to 2 persons extra-long tent. With the old tent, it was very tiny inside and I couldn‘t put any luggage into it. And the bedroll touched the tent at the head and the feet and sometimes got a little wet. Now with the 20cm longer tent, it should be better. I will tell tomorrow.
