To answer the question from yesterday: the tent is great, more than enough space now. With the current weather, the tent isn‘t getting wet as well. I even didn‘t have to close the outer tent because it was still warm.
In the morning, I went to a Lidl and bought bread, some creamy sauce with paprika and chili and some cheese. Plus an orange juice and icetea so that I have enough to drink during the hot day today. And that was good, because I used almost everything and drank about 4l during cycling and more in the morning and evening. In total probably 5-6l.
I looked at the fort in Komárno. Its walls are impressive, but it looks a bit like the money is missing for renovations. Some kilometers later was an Unesco site, the Roman castellum Celemantia. There weren‘t many ruins left. Suddenly, my bike alarm was ringing. Some people did move a bit my bicycle, when trying to park theirs. So I have the proof that it is working 🙂 . They were impressed about the alarm and asked how it is called because it would be a great protection for their bicycles within the city. I didn‘t really know the name, but it uses the Knog app and needs an iPhone. It sounds then for about 1min and then stops automatically. If somebody moves the bicycle again, it will ring again. What is a bit unfortunate, I have to be next to my bicycle to turn it off because it uses bluetooth. But usually I am anyway too far away sightseeing things and won‘t hear it.
On the other side of the bike path was a stunning beach. It felt like being at the seaside on a beautiful sand beach. There were even some mussels.
Afterwards, the bike path was again a lot on a dam without shadow. I was sweating almost all the time, why I had to compensate it by drinking a lot. Now writing these lines, I am feeling better than yesterday, when I had a light headache probably caused by not drinking enough.
Along the way, I overtook and was overtaken several times by three English speaking persons. Some kilometers before Esztergom, I met again Svenja. We cycled together to Esztergom, where she had to go to a bike shop and I crossed the bridge. Second time in Hungary 🙂 . Already on the bridge you have an awesome view on the basilica. Currently, there is a lot of renovation ongoing inside the basilica. I also visited the castle museum just next to the basilica. The hill was already inhabited around 3000 BC.
Meanwhile, it was already 4 o‘clock and I still had to cycle 30km. Around 18:30 I was at the camping near Nagymaros. It is a simple and small camping, but has a warm shower and plugbar so that I can load my powerbank to load my smartphone during the night. Because only cash payment are possible, I went to an ATM in the village. They have a nice beach and on the other riverside is a hill (it anyway changed from totally flat to hilly) with the impressive castle of Viségrad.
Many restaurants are already closed or will soon close. Therefore, I went to a more expensive one. The food was delicious. I had some apple soup, which tasted more like a dessert. As main course I had some zucchini with some paprika tasting small balls (from the shape a bit like falafel, but the inside was fresher). To drink an apricot-rosemary lemonade and an aperol spritz. As usually on my bike tours, my dinners are often more expensive than the accomodation 🙂 .
And I almost forgot: it was the last part in Slovakia. After the short parts in Komárom and Esztergom, I will cycle now for the next few days in Hungary.
