A good breakfast at a bakery in Donauwörth gave energy for a long stage today. Just some annoying wasps disturbed it, so that I grabbed everything and finished eating at a wasp-free place.
Donauwörth was a nice city with beautiful buildings, history and good restaurants. The path followed first some streets and went up the hill. At the top was Leitheim with a pretty castle.
After Marxheim a wonderful part of the Danube came, nature pure. Later I reached Neuburg, where I ate delicious lunch (some Greek cheese I can not remember the name, started with M, and some good veggie food). Not only the food was good, also the old town has shown its glance. High and impressive buildings and beautiful churches. Here I met again the group of Swiss people and exactly the same in Ingolstadt. The city had not the charm of Donauwörth or Neuburg. Maybe it was already a bit too large for a Swiss person 😉 . Nevertheless I found some nice buildings, especially the very high minster (Liebfrauenmünster) is worth seeing although the interior is kept simple.
In Vohburg I visited the tower and the wall. It is on one of the few small hills in this region. The weather seemed to tell that I should take a shower on the last 10km. It rained so much that I was wet throughout my clothes even with the rainjacket, or probably more a wind- than rainjacket. Anyway I wanted to wash my bike trousers, so this point was already done 🙂 . On the camping I took a hot shower and was lucky that the thunderstorm was over and I could unfold my still dry tent. And of course the Swiss group was here as well 😀 .
