My rest of pizza from yesterday evening was the breakfast. Today I started a bit earlier because it will be up to 35 degrees hot.
The first part was along streets. Then it should go along the Danube, but it was redirected. When it was back on the original route, it was planned to take a small ferry to cross the river. Unfortunately the ferry‘s engine was somehow broken and I followed the river to the next bridge and went to the other side. A few kilometers later I came in a village where either the street was closed or forbidden because it was oneway. Before heading back and take the main road with a lot of traffic, I asked a woman and she said, that even cars ignore the oneway sign and with the bike it shouldn‘t be a problem. She also explained me the best way to Vilshofen.
Theoretically I had in mind to take lunch in Passau. I was slower than assumed and that‘s why I stopped in Windorf and got, after a delicious soupe of chanterelles (Pfifferlinge), a huge portion of cheese spaetzle. I was so full that I drove rather slow to give some time to digest it. Meanwhile it was also very hot.
At 15:30 I reached Passau and sightsaw the city. It had many beautiful churches, especially the paintings inside. I climbed to the castle. Unfortunately it just closed. But I still could see it from outside and it was also a nice view to the city with the three rivers Danube (blue colored water), Inn (brownish, caused by the glaciers) and Ilz (dark, because of moor water). The Inn looks bigger than the Danube (confirmed after googling).
I decided to continue to Austria and to the camping in Kasten so that only 70-80km are left to Linz tomorrow, where I will meet my wife. I‘m looking forward for that 🙂 !
