2020-08-17: Day 07 Leipheim – Donauwörth (81km, total 526km)

In Leipheim I ate a good chocolate croissant and a „Streusel“ (bread with crumbles on top).

The bike route followed close to the Danube on gravel roads. Many birds could be observed, i.e. two kingfishers (Eisvogel). I stopped under a bridge and put on my rain clothes. Five minutes later it stopped to rain. Later it rained again and in the late afternoon the sun was shining.

In Lauingen I brought my bike to a bike shop to repair my back break because it got worse. Good to have a working bike again 🙂 . One city later came Dillingen, where Mr. Kneipp studied.

A beautiful castle was in Höchstädt. I missed a turnoff and decided to follow some path along the Danube and I think it was better than the origin route with more nature and less street.

At the farm Bäldleschwaige I bought some healthy sweets. And I met there again the group of Swiss people of the camping of last night. They do every year some part of the EuroVelo route 6. They started at the Atlantic some years ago and this year they go from Ulm until Wien.

At Donauwörth I noticed the information office and it was still open. I asked for a camping place close to the city and went there. It‘s a small camping only for tents and has everything (shower and toilet). The man of the reception was also very friendly and helpful. I took a short swim in a small lake of the Wörnitz. Now I ate a delicious Rahmschwammerl with Semmelknödel and salad. That‘s a good finish of a nice day 🙂 .
