2020-08-26: Day 16 Krems – Wien (91km, total: 1239km)

My back brake was again rubbing against the brake block and I went to a bike shop in Krems. They couldn‘t do too much except reconfigure it so that it is at least not rubbing anymore. The problem is the kickstand that bends the rod where the brake is fastened. I have to try to avoid the usage of the kickstand.

Krems is a small town with possibilities for looking at nice buildings or shopping.

The bike route from Krems to Wien (engl. Vienna) is great. It is most of the time directly at the riverside of the Danube. Today was a strong wind from west to east. Therefore we had a lot of tailwind and we could do the 80km to Wien within four hours.

We saw the nuclear power plant Zwentendorf that was constructed, but never activated. It‘s one of the largest investment failures of Austria. At least they can use the building now for some solar panels 😀 .

In Tulln we ate lunch. We walked up to the castle of Greifenstein. It is private and we could look at it just from distance. At 18:00 we arrived in Wien.

We will stay in Wien tomorrow as well and have a bike free day 🙂 .
