2022-10-02: Day 02 Frankfurt – Aschaffenburg (60km, total 150km)

Rain, rain, rain. If we ignore the intonation, it rhymes to Main. Therefore I did not plan to go too far today. Maybe only to Aschaffenburg.

In a Café I ate the breakfast. From Frankfurt I drove to Hanau, where I visited Schloss Philippsruhe. There were at least five weddings, or mainly taking nice wedding pictures in front and inside of the palace. Besides the main exhibition is also a small one about the Grimm brothers. Unbelievable how many books they wrote.

A bit further was another nice building with a high tower. First I went up this amazing castle keep with origins from the 13./14. century. It was used partially as prison. In the other building I visited a very intersting exhibition about the first cultures in Middle Europe including various findings, which are up to 7000 years old. The first culture is the Linear Pottery Culture (Bandkeramische Kultur). Absolutely recommandable if you are interested in archeology.

In Seligenstadt I stopped only short. It has a monastry, but especially the old houses are in the center are beautiful.

Now I stay at Aschaffenburg for the night and will visit the museum of Schloss Johannisburg tomorrow at 9 o’clock. Today I was two minutes too late for the last entrance.
