2022-10-04: Day 04 Lengfurt – Würzburg (88km, total 340km)

The night with the new tent and the new warmer bedroll was okay, of course less comfortable than a hotel. But waking up with the singing birds is not that bad as well 😉 .

In the morning it was still rather fresh with 5° celsius and I wore a cap and gloves. Soon the sun came and it was great to bike. Also the path along the Main was rather nice. That‘s the great thing in Germany. The bike routes are most of the time separated from the main streets.

In Gemünden I ate lunch and had a big piece of Sachertorte 🙂 .

I followed the river to Karlstadt and then to Veitshöchheim, where I visited a garden park in Rokoko style (I still should define what ropeko style is 😛 ). Meanwhile it was blue sky and I enjoyed the sun and relaxed in the park next to a fountain and some ducks. It is remarkable how many different birds I saw today. Before Gemünden I also rescued a caterpillar from the road, according to Google Lens it is a fox moth (Brombeerspinner, rather different name in German).

Würzburg is now final destination for today, where I stay in a hostel. Dinner I enjoyed in the Backöfele. A very creamy soup with cinneman flavor first, followed by bread over-baked by camembert. It looks like many of the vegetarian menues contain camembert here.
